A baby boy with a memorable name — Ridge Watts — is touching the hearts of many with his resilience, even though he is not yet seven months old.
Ridge lives with his family in Evergreen, Alabama. From the moment he was born, he has been living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, a rare condition that causes the skin and mucous membranes to be extremely fragile, often leading to painful blisters and irritation. The condition can also affect other parts of the body internally.

Currently, there is no definitive cure for this condition, which means Ridge requires constant and careful daily care.
Several times each day, Ridge’s mother, Annsley, and his father, Bailey, gently change the bandages that protect his skin. The process involves applying Vaseline to the blisters and wrapping them carefully with gauze and cloth to help reduce friction and protect his delicate skin.
Over the past few days, Ridge has been receiving treatment at Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham due to an infection in his neck. He recently underwent a procedure to drain the infection, and according to his family, he handled it very well and is continuing to recover.

His mother shared that the family is hopeful Ridge will be able to leave the hospital soon if his recovery continues smoothly.
In another hopeful development, Ridge has recently been approved for an experimental medication that has shown promising results in the United Kingdom. However, the treatment comes with a significant financial challenge, as it is expected to cost about $6,500 per day and is not currently covered by insurance.

Ridge’s parents are now hoping to find a way to access the medication, believing it could potentially improve his quality of life and provide meaningful progress in his condition.
Last November, Ridge’s health took a serious turn, and doctors warned the family that his outlook might be limited to several months. Since then, however, he has shown encouraging improvement, bringing renewed hope to his parents.

At the moment, Ridge is also receiving care for a MRSA infection affecting his eye. Despite the many challenges he faces, those close to him say he remains a patient and cheerful baby.
Ridge Watts’ journey is drawing attention from many people who are inspired by his strength and are hoping for brighter days ahead for the young boy and his family. 💙
