A 7-MONTH-OLD BABY GIRL TRAGICALLY LOST HER LIFE IN A RANDOM NYC SHOOTING JUST DAYS AFTER SAYING HER FIRST “MAMA,” LEAVING HER FAMILY DEVASTATED

The 7-month-old girl who lost her life after a tragic incident in Brooklyn while her parents were pushing her in a stroller Wednesday afternoon had just learned to say “mama,” her heartbroken family shared.

The baby, Kaori, was sitting with her brother in a double stroller when “something went off” near Humboldt and Moore Streets in East Williamsburg, her mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, said in a phone interview.

At first, the family thought it was fireworks. They didn’t realize what was happening until moments later.

“We thought it was fireworks, but my son jumped out of the stroller, and I picked him up and carried him,” the 20-year-old mother recalled.

“I was holding him, and when I looked to my left, my daughter was just lying there. She was hurt. It was just too much,” she said.

The mother also shared that her 2-year-old son was slightly injured and has been asking about his sister ever since.

“My daughter was innocent. She didn’t deserve this. We were just going outside to get a few things. My son was affected by everything that happened. It was overwhelming, because it could have been even worse,” she said.

Family members remembered Kaori as a joyful baby who was always laughing and had just reached a touching milestone.

“She had just started saying ‘Mama,’ and was almost ready to crawl. She was learning so many new things,” her mother said.

Kaori’s grandmother, Linda Moore Oyinkoinyan, said she collapsed at work after receiving the heartbreaking call.

“My daughter called me, screaming. She told me what happened, and I just couldn’t handle it,” she recalled.

She described Kaori as a “beautiful spirit.”

“She was loving, always smiling, and brought so much warmth to everyone around her,” she said.

Authorities said the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. when individuals on a moped caused chaos in the area before fleeing. One person involved was later found after a crash nearby and is currently being questioned.

The child was not believed to be the intended target, and investigations are ongoing as officials work to locate others connected to the incident.

“I want justice,” the mother said.
