When people first see three-year-old Ilisapeci, they may notice her differences. But her family sees something far deeper — a brave little girl who has been fighting for her life since the very beginning.

Living in Lubbock, Texas, Ilisapeci was born with Apert syndrome, a rare condition that affects the development of the skull, face, hands, and feet. From her earliest days, her life has been filled with challenges most children never have to face.

She has already undergone multiple complex surgeries. Doctors carefully opened her skull to allow her brain the space it needed to grow. Her fingers were surgically separated so she could begin to use her hands. A cleft palate was repaired so she could eat more comfortably.

Each procedure brought hope — but her journey is far from over.

Despite everything she has endured, Ilisapeci still struggles with one of the most basic needs: breathing.

At night, her airway can become blocked, making sleep difficult and sometimes distressing. For her parents, every night is filled with worry, listening closely for each breath, hoping she can rest peacefully.

Now, Ilisapeci needs another critical surgery — one that could reshape parts of her face and help open her airway, giving her the chance to breathe more easily and live more comfortably.

Her parents have stood by her side through every moment, doing everything in their power to support her.

“She’s stronger than we ever imagined,” her mother shared softly. “No matter how hard it gets, she keeps going… and that gives us strength too.”

Her father added, “All we want is for her to breathe freely, to sleep peacefully, to just be a child without struggling.”
