FROM 2 DAYS TO 14 WEEKS OLD — LUCA’S JOURNEY BATTLING PIERRE ROBIN WILL MELT YOUR HEART

Born with Pierre Robin syndrome, baby Luca entered the world facing challenges that most newborns never have to endure.

From his very first days, life was not easy.

At just two days old, Luca was incredibly small and fragile. His condition — which can affect the development of the jaw, tongue, and airway — made even the simplest act of breathing a struggle. Each breath he took felt like a quiet battle, fought without a sound, as he lay under close medical care.

By day 10, his journey had already become more difficult than anyone could have imagined. Feeding was a challenge, as his underdeveloped jaw made it hard to swallow properly. His airway remained delicate, requiring constant monitoring to ensure he could breathe safely. At times, his tiny body seemed to work twice as hard just to do what most babies do naturally.

Yet through it all, Luca showed a strength far beyond his size.

He didn’t cry out for attention or give in to the struggle — he simply kept going, moment by moment.

For his family, watching him fight so quietly has been both heartbreaking and deeply moving.

“He’s so small, but so strong,” a family member shared. “Every day we look at him, we see how hard he’s trying. It gives us strength too.”

Another loved one added, “There are moments we feel scared, but Luca reminds us not to lose hope. He keeps fighting in his own gentle way.”
