AT JUST 10 WEEKS OLD, A RARE RHABDOID TUMOUR STOLE HIS EYE — BUT NOT HIS LIGHT 💔✨

“Having our twins – Caleb and Carter – was the most precious thing ever but also very scary and a huge adjustment.

When Caleb was just eight weeks old, his parents noticed something unusual — his left eye began to droop. At first, it was a small detail, but deep down, they felt something wasn’t right.

That instinct led to devastating news.

Caleb was diagnosed with a malignant rhabdoid tumour behind his left eye socket — a rare and aggressive form of cancer that was growing rapidly. In an instant, their world was turned upside down.

“The news brought our lives to a complete stop,” his family shared. “We were heartbroken. You try to stay strong for your children, but this was something else entirely.”

Doctors quickly began treatment, hoping to shrink the tumor with intensive chemotherapy before surgery. But the cancer proved too aggressive, and the treatment was not working as hoped.

After weeks of hospital stays and difficult conversations, an incredibly tough decision had to be made.

At just 10 weeks old, Caleb underwent surgery to remove his left eye and the surrounding tissue in order to stop the cancer from spreading. It was followed by 10 rounds of chemotherapy, with constant hospital visits that took over the family’s daily life.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, moments of light still found their way in.

The hospital’s play team became a source of comfort, bringing songs, toys, and warmth into an otherwise overwhelming environment. They cared for Caleb not just as a patient, but as a child who deserved joy.

“They gave us moments to breathe,” the family shared. “Even in the hardest times, they helped us feel like we weren’t alone.”

Through every challenge, Caleb has shown incredible strength.

Today, he is described as “the happiest little boy,” a reminder of resilience and hope even after everything he has been through.

Reflecting on their journey, his parents said:
“We still have our boy — and that means everything.”
“This journey has tested us in every way, but it also showed us how strong we are together.”

They also expressed deep gratitude to the medical team who stood by them every step of the way:
“We will never forget the kindness, care, and love they showed our family. They helped us find light in the darkest days.”
