Train to Busan 3 picks up several years after the events of Peninsula, but rather than continuing the story from the previous film, it takes the franchise in an exciting new direction. The world remains a dangerous place after the initial outbreak of the zombie virus, but this time, the focus is on a group of survivors who find themselves trapped aboard a high-speed train, which has become a sanctuary amid the chaos outside. The train travels between cities that are now heavily infected, with a few safe zones scattered across the country.

The protagonist, Ji-won (played by a new lead actress), is a hardened survivor who has been battling to keep her family alive in a world overrun by the undead.
