BABY GIRL BORN WITH “ELEPHANT TRUNK” FACIAL CONDITION DRAWS DEVOTION AS LOCALS SEE A LIVING SYMBOL OF FAITH

A newborn baby girl in northern India has attracted widespread attention after being born with a rare facial condition that locals say resembles the appearance of the Hindu deity Ganesha.
The infant, who has not yet been named, was born on Thursday in a village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Shortly after her birth, word spread through the surrounding community that a baby with unusual facial features had arrived, drawing curious visitors from nearby areas.

The child was born with a trunk-like protrusion between her eyes, a feature that many villagers believe resembles depictions of Lord Ganesha, one of Hinduism’s most widely revered deities.
As news of her birth circulated, some residents began referring to the baby as “Lord Ganpatni,” meaning “Ganesha’s wife,” while others described her as a special or divine child.
“My sister-in-law gave birth at around seven in the morning, and her face looks exactly like Lord Ganesha,” the baby’s aunt, Rajani, said. “People from nearby villages have been coming to see her ever since.”

The newborn comes from a modest family in the village. Her father earns a living as a vegetable vendor, reportedly making around 250 rupees a day. Family members said they hope the arrival of their daughter will bring positive changes and blessings to their household.
The baby is the youngest of four children and joins three healthy older siblings.
Medical experts, however, have offered a different explanation for the unusual facial feature. Doctors believe the protrusion is likely the result of a rare developmental condition or genetic mutation that occurred before birth.

According to local reports, specialists suggested that factors such as poor maternal nutrition and environmental conditions may have contributed to the condition, although further medical evaluation would be needed to determine the exact cause.
While opinions differ regarding the significance of the baby’s appearance, one thing is clear: the little girl has become the focus of extraordinary attention in her community during the very first days of her life.
For her family, however, beyond the headlines and growing crowds of visitors, she remains simply a newborn daughter beginning her journey in the world.
“She is our child first,” a relative said. “We only hope she grows up healthy and has a happy future.”
