UP 2 (2025)

Pixar just dropped the first look at UP 2 and I’m already emotionally compromised. Carl Fredricksen, grumpier, balder, and somehow even more lovable, is back with his creaky house, thousands of balloons on standby, and a heart that’s apparently still not ready for what’s coming. Seeing him shuffle around that empty living room until Russell (now a gangly teen with the same chaotic energy) crashes back into his life? Instant waterworks. The hug lasted ten full seconds and I counted every one through blurry eyes.
This time the adventure isn’t about checking off a bucket list; it’s about realizing the list never actually ends. Uncharted jungles, talking sloths (yes, really), a villainous treasure hunter who wants to pave over Paradise Falls, and one scene where Carl ties balloons to his walker just to keep up with Russell. I lost it. The animation is stupidly gorgeous: sunsets that look painted by angels, rain that feels cold on your skin, and every wrinkle on Carl’s face telling its own story.

It’s funny, it’s chaotic, it’s devastating in the quiet moments when Carl whispers “Adventure never grows old” while staring at Ellie’s old adventure book. Pixar didn’t just make a sequel; they made a love letter to anyone who’s ever been scared of the next blank page.
Bring tissues. Bring the whole box. Bring your grandpa. Just go.
