When Trinity was born, her parents had already been told her diagnosis was considered extremely serious. Doctors had warned that Trisomy 18 (T18) was often associated with a very limited life expectancy.

But her mother refused to let that diagnosis define her daughter’s future.

Their first OBGYN even stopped caring for the family because they chose to continue the pregnancy. For Trinity’s parents, there was never any question that their little girl deserved every opportunity to live.

Then came the moment they will never forget.

Trinity was born as the sun was rising. Her mother remembers seeing her tiny daughter placed on her chest while the delivery room suddenly became filled with urgency.

“HELP HER!” her mother pleaded.

One nurse immediately stepped forward and began providing the care Trinity needed. Slowly, her heartbeat returned.

And outside the hospital window was something the family would remember forever — Trinity Church, revealed in the morning light.

From that first day, Trinity’s journey became one of countless medical challenges, unexpected moments of strength and unwavering faith.

Her parents watched doctors perform procedures and care for their daughter through difficult moments. They say there were times when Trinity seemed to find an extraordinary peace even during painful medical experiences.

“We watched doctors and nurses become part of our journey,” her mother shared. “Some of them told us they had never seen a child come through certain procedures as peacefully as Trinity did.”

Over time, the family says Trinity’s story also touched the medical teams who cared for her. Nurses who met her in Tampa continued to keep in touch, saying that witnessing her journey had changed the way they viewed many things.

One nurse later told the family that when Trinity first arrived in the ICU, she had been left in her care because the team did not expect her to live for long.

But Trinity kept proving them wrong.

Her parents say their faith gave them strength through every hospital stay, every uncertain conversation and every new challenge.

“We were in a place we had never been before, but we were never alone,” her mother said. “Our faith carried us, and so many people stood beside us and lifted us up.”

Now, seven years after that unforgettable morning, Trinity is here.

The little girl doctors once feared might not have much time has grown into a joyful seven-year-old — a living reminder to her family of how far she has come.

“When I look back at everything we went through — the tears, the battles, the joy and the faith — I can only say, ‘Look at her now.’”
