Rango 2 (2026)

Rango 2 (2026) is the long-awaited sequel to the 2011 animated hit Rango, a quirky and visually stunning film that followed the journey of a chameleon who became the unlikely sheriff of the desert town of Dirt. The original film, directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Johnny Depp as the voice of Rango, combined western adventure, rich character development, and stunning animation, which made it an unexpected yet beloved success.

Rango 2 picks up a few years after the events of the first film, bringing back the zany characters, the dry humor, and the wild, unpredictable energy that made the first movie so unique. It also expands the world of Dirt, delving deeper into new challenges, wild adventures, and Rango’s evolution as a leader.
Plot Overview:
In Rango 2, Rango (voiced by Johnny Depp) is no longer the inexperienced, imposter sheriff that he once was. Now a celebrated hero in the town of Dirt, he has come to terms with his place in the world — or so he thinks. As the town begins to flourish, a new threat emerges from the shadows of the desert. The once-depleted water supply, which was at the center of the first film, is once again in peril, but this time, it’s not just about a drought — it’s a battle for control over the very essence of life in the desert.
A new antagonist, a mysterious and cunning bandit called The Vulture (voiced by a new star, perhaps someone like Samuel L. Jackson), emerges from the hills with a sinister plan to take over Dirt by controlling the water supply. With the help of his oddball gang, The Vulture threatens to manipulate and monopolize the water that the residents of Dirt depend on to survive.
