THE GRUDGE: NEW CHAPTER (2026)

The Grudge: New Chapter (2026) continues the terrifying legacy of the The Grudge horror franchise, returning to the dark mythology of the curse that spreads from one victim to another. Inspired by the original Japanese story Ju-On: The Grudge, this new installment explores a fresh setting and new characters while keeping the core idea of an unstoppable supernatural curse.

The story begins when a young journalist moves to a quiet suburban town to investigate a mysterious series of deaths connected to an abandoned house. Locals avoid the place and refuse to talk about what happened there, but rumors persist about strange sounds, shadowy figures, and people who disappear after entering the property. As the journalist digs deeper, she learns that the house is connected to a violent tragedy that created a powerful supernatural curse.
The curse, as in previous films, is born from intense rage and sorrow left behind by those who died violently. Anyone who enters the cursed house becomes marked, and the spirit follows them wherever they go. The terror does not stay in one place—it spreads from victim to victim, slowly expanding its reach and claiming new lives.
As the investigation continues, the protagonist begins to experience disturbing events. She hears faint noises inside empty rooms, sees pale figures appearing in mirrors, and receives strange phone calls with nothing but eerie breathing on the other end. Soon she realizes that simply researching the curse has connected her to it, and escaping may already be impossible.
The film builds its horror through atmosphere and psychological tension rather than constant jump scares. Dark hallways, silent houses, and sudden glimpses of ghostly figures create a feeling that the curse is always present. The spirits often appear in unexpected places, reinforcing the idea that once someone is marked, there is no safe place left.
