Family Tragedy After 6-Week-Old Baby Fatally Injured by Household Husky While Sleeping

A dog that had been owned for many years and had never shown aggression suddenly jumped into its kennel area and seriously injured a 6-week-old boy; the child later passed away after a long fight for recovery.

On May 30, 6-week-old Ezra Mansoor, who lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, passed away after six days of intensive medical care. He suffered severe head injuries after being bitten by the family’s husky dog.

The boy’s parents, Mark (28) and Chloe Mansoor (25), never imagined that the gentle and well-behaved husky they had owned for many years could harm their baby son.

Mark said the dog had been his close companion since he was a teenager and had never shown aggressive behavior. He often called the dog “the light of my heart.” In a recent photo, Mark can be seen smiling while holding his beloved pet.

Mark and Chloe married in 2022, and baby Ezra was born on April 14. Before his birth, they held a joyful celebration to welcome their baby into the family. The couple posed next to a sign that read, “Mom and Dad are so excited to meet you,” along with a photo of the teddy bear they had bought for Ezra.

When their baby arrived, they felt nothing but the happiness of becoming parents.

“Being Ezra’s mother is the greatest honor and the most wonderful thing I’ve ever experienced,” Chloe shared with the media outside East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

Following this heartbreaking event, Chloe urged other parents to always be cautious, noting that even familiar family pets should be carefully supervised around young children. Chloe and her husband also chose to donate Ezra’s organs in hopes of helping save other children.

The family’s dog is currently being held at the Young-Williams Animal Center for a 10-day observation period, as required by Tennessee state law. It is not yet known what will happen afterward. Local authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding Ezra’s passing.

Before Ezra’s case, there have been other incidents involving young children and pet dogs. In 2018, a 5-week-old boy in England was seriously injured by two Staffordshire Bull Terriers kept as pets. He experienced severe medical complications and later passed away at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge after weeks of treatment.
