Cars 4 (2026)

The beloved Cars franchise returns with Cars 4, a fresh chapter in the high-octane world of racing, friendship, and self-discovery. With new cars, new challenges, and an expanded universe, this installment takes Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) on a journey beyond the racetrack — into an evolving world of technology, competition, and the pursuit of purpose.

Set a few years after Cars 3, Cars 4 follows Lightning McQueen as he struggles to stay relevant in a rapidly changing racing world. After the rise of electric and autonomous vehicles, traditional racing cars like Lightning begin to feel outpaced and obsolete. Despite his legendary career, McQueen finds himself questioning his place in the racing world. When a new, younger and technologically advanced competitor, Vortex (voiced by a new cast member), enters the scene, the pressure mounts for Lightning to either evolve or leave his glory days behind.
In this world where technology is advancing faster than ever, McQueen is faced with the ultimate decision — adapt to the new world or pass the torch to the next generation. He seeks guidance from his trusted friends, including Mater, who’s still as goofy and fun-loving as ever, but also finds that it’s not just about being faster or smarter — it’s about the heart of racing. Along the way, Lightning forms a mentorship with a new rookie named Blaze (a fresh, fast-paced car), who wants to become the next big thing but struggles with the pressures of living up to the legacy of his predecessors.
Meanwhile, Sally (Bonnie Hunt) and the residents of Radiator Springs are dealing with their own issues, with the town becoming a hub for future tech, attracting tourists and cutting-edge vehicles from around the world. Mater, in his usual clumsy yet lovable fashion, finds himself getting involved in an unexpected scheme that could either save or destroy the town.
