CRITICIZED FOR CHOOSING LOVE, THIS COUPLE STANDS STRONG FOR THEIR DAUGHTER BORN WITH A RARE SKULL AND SPINE CONDITION

A couple faced harsh criticism online for trying to have a child with facial deformities, even receiving malicious comments from strangers calling the baby a “monster,” causing them immense distress and sadness.

Naffi and Racheli Goldman, who live in Manchester, expressed their heartbreak over the comments when they posted photos of their baby daughter, Batya, on Facebook. Batya was born with a rare condition that caused her skull and spine to be deformed, as well as visual and hearing impairments and the inability to breathe on her own.

It is known that during her pregnancy, the mother used a 3D scan and doctors informed her of the baby’s health problems and warned that the child would likely not adapt to life if born. Therefore, the doctors advised the couple to terminate the pregnancy to avoid future heartbreak. However, no parent in the world would ever abandon their child. Therefore, Naffi and Racheli decided to keep their baby and affirmed that they would not regret welcoming their little daughter into the world.

Naffi, Batya’s father, admitted that he was initially quite frightened by his daughter’s large eyes and unusually shaped head, but when he read the comments under his daughter’s photo, he was even more horrified. He never thought that people could say such cruel things.

Naffi shared: “What strangers commented on my daughter’s photos was terrible. They said they had never seen such an ugly child. They said our child looked like a monster. Some even said what we were trying to do was child abuse and even advised us not to let the child live anymore. They texted us and said, ‘Do you think keeping this baby is the right thing to do?’ Those comments were heartbreaking.

When the ultrasound revealed the fetus’s condition, Racheli was told by the doctors to have an abortion immediately because they believed the baby would be in extremely serious health conditions. The doctors also said that caring for such a child would be unbearable for us. After hearing these words, I felt like the whole world had collapsed around me. However, we still decided to keep the baby because she is a gift from God.” “We know the future will be incredibly difficult, but this is our choice.”

Batya was born with respiratory distress syndrome and is now on a ventilator. Both Naffi and Racheli have had to give up their jobs and dedicate 24/7 to caring for their daughter.
