BABY WRAPPED IN A PROTECTIVE BAG DUE TO A RARE CONDITION WHERE THE INTESTINES DEVELOPED OUTSIDE THE BODY

Although not a hereditary condition, the baby’s 8-year-old brother also lives with this rare situation.
Every mother hopes her child will be healthy. However, that good fortune did not come to Krystle Giles. The 26-year-old woman, living in Glastonbury, England, has given birth twice to children born with their intestines developing outside the abdominal area – a condition that affects only 1 in 3000 babies.

At birth, baby Petal was carefully wrapped in a protective membrane to keep her intestines in place
Krystle has three children. While her eldest daughter, Angel, 10 years old, was born healthy, her second son, Owen, 8 years old, and her newborn daughter, Petal, both were born with this rare condition. From birth, both babies had their intestines developing outside their abdominal area, requiring doctors to gently wrap their bodies with specialized medical membranes to stabilize and protect them.

Previously, her 8-year-old brother, Owen, also experienced similar challenges
Krystle recounted her shock upon learning that her 16-week-old fetus had the same condition as her brother. The mother of three never imagined such a difficult situation could happen again. Fortunately, after surgery to place the intestines back into the abdominal area, Petal is now healthy, developing normally, and was discharged after 23 days of monitoring.
