The Ice Road (2021)

Liam Neeson vs. melting ice and corporate scumbags? Sign me up, I’m already buckled in.
Big Rig Ice Driver Mike McCann (Neeson doing peak grizzled Neeson) teams up with a ragtag crew to haul rescue equipment across 300 miles of frozen Canadian lakes before they literally collapse. One wrong turn = instant watery grave. The tension when those ice cracks start spider-webbing under 30-ton trucks had me holding my breath like I was the one behind the wheel.

Laurence Fishburne brings the calm veteran energy, Amber Midthunder kicks absolute ass as the Cree mechanic who knows the ice better than anyone, and Marcus Thomas quietly steals scenes as Mike’s genius brother with PTSD. The villains are cartoonishly evil (yes, insurance fraud on a mine explosion, classic), but when the action hits—trucks plunging, chains snapping, fistfights on swaying rigs—it’s pure popcorn adrenaline.

It’s dumb, loud, and knows exactly what it is: a glorious throwback to 90s Neeson thrillers with added frostbite. Turn your brain to “hell yeah” and enjoy the ride.
