ACCEPTANCE AND LOVE: PARENTS EMBRACE SON BORN WITH RARE SYNDROME
“We are the reason our baby came into the world without arms.”
When Lindi and Shane Martin welcomed their son, Hutt, into their lives, they were filled with overwhelming joy. However, that moment of celebration was quickly followed by an unexpected discovery as doctors noticed that his arms had developed differently during pregnancy.

Hutt was later diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia-Absent Radius (TAR) syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition that affects roughly 1 in 250,000 children worldwide. The condition meant he was born without the main radius bones in his forearms, leaving his hands positioned close to his shoulders. In addition to these upper limb challenges, Hutt was also born with bilateral club feet, a condition medical specialists are actively working to correct and improve through ongoing treatment.

Despite the difficult diagnosis and the medical journey ahead, Lindi and Shane chose to focus entirely on their deep love for their child. They view his life not as a burden, but as a unique journey filled with hope, strength, and continuous care. By sharing their story, the couple aims to raise awareness about TAR syndrome while offering inspiration and comfort to other families navigating similar rare medical conditions around the world.
