LITTLE GRAHAM HAS HYPOPLASTIC LEFT HEART SYNDROME AND FACES A THIRD MAJOR HEART SURGERY — NOW AN UNEXPECTED ILLNESS HAS HIS FAMILY ON EDGE

When Graham’s parents learned before his birth that their little boy had a serious heart defect, they knew his journey would be unlike that of most children.
Yet nothing could prepare them for the challenges, hospital stays and difficult decisions that would become part of their family’s life.
Graham was diagnosed in the womb with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare congenital condition in which the left side of the heart does not develop properly, making it difficult to pump blood effectively throughout the body.

Since then, this brave little boy has already undergone two of the three planned major heart surgeries designed to help his heart function and support his growth. His next open-heart operation is expected to be scheduled for this summer.
For his parents, every milestone has meant more than simply moving forward — it has been another reason to hope for the future they dream of for their son.
Recently, Graham had been making encouraging progress on the hospital’s step-down unit. His oxygen levels were looking good, and he was getting up to walk, visiting the playroom, and eating and drinking.
Then came an unexpected setback: he caught a cold while still in the hospital.

The little boy developed a persistent cough and a fever, leaving his parents worried that something more serious might be happening. Given his heart condition and recent medical journey, their first concern was whether fluid might be building up in his lungs.
Thankfully, the family was relieved to learn that the symptoms appeared to be related to a cold rather than the complication they had feared.
Their cardiologist, who is on call this week, even said she would feel comfortable with Graham returning home, provided his condition remained suitable for discharge. His care could continue there with rest, fever relief as advised, and fluids such as Pedialyte given through his G-button.
Despite the cough, fever and daily hospital checks, Graham has continued to keep his spirits up.
His family could not be prouder of the way he has handled so much at such a young age.

“We are so, so proud of him,” his parents shared, celebrating his positive attitude even when things do not go according to plan.
Behind Graham’s brave smile, however, is a family navigating the emotional and financial demands of complex medical care. As a single-income household, his parents face mounting expenses from hospital visits, medical bills, therapies and travel to and from the hospital.
They created a GoFundMe to help ease that burden, allowing them to focus on what matters most: being by Graham’s side during surgery and supporting his recovery at home.
Their hope is that Graham will continue to grow stronger, make it through his next operation and enjoy more of the simple childhood moments every family cherishes.

For now, each encouraging update brings renewed hope. His journey is far from over, but Graham continues to show his family that courage can shine through even the most difficult days.
And for his parents, every smile, every step toward recovery and every moment spent together is a reminder of why they keep fighting alongside their little boy.
