HEARTBREAKING UPDATE: BOY, 4, FOUND DEAD ALONGSIDE HIS FATHER DIED IN HOMICIDE, MEDICAL EXAMINER RULES
Andres “Harry” Furley was found in Texas after being reported missing during a custody dispute. Authorities say the little boy’s father also died, with his death ruled a suicide.
A four-year-old boy whose disappearance prompted a search across state lines died in a homicide, authorities have determined, bringing a devastating update to a case that has left his family mourning.
Andres “Harry” Furley was found alongside his 25-year-old father, Caleb Furley, in Gainesville, Texas, on October 14, 2026, after the child had been reported missing in Oklahoma.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Andres died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled his death a homicide. Authorities identified his father as responsible for the child’s death.
Caleb also died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide, according to reports citing the medical examiner’s findings.
The discoveries came after an urgent search for the young boy, who had last been seen with his father days earlier.
A MISSED CUSTODY EXCHANGE SPARKED CONCERN
Andres was reported missing on October 12 after Caleb failed to appear for a scheduled custody exchange with the boy’s mother, according to reports.
An Amber Alert issued by Oklahoma authorities said Andres had last been seen with his father on October 11.
Investigators believed Caleb might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, according to information included in the alert. That information was part of the search effort and should not be taken as a confirmed explanation for what happened.
As the days passed without the expected exchange, authorities worked to establish where the father and son had gone.
The search would eventually lead investigators to Gainesville, Texas, roughly 120 miles from Norman, Oklahoma, where the child had been reported missing. <
A “SUSPICIOUS” INTERACTION HELPED POLICE TRACE THEIR MOVEMENTS
The investigation took a significant turn after someone at a business in Gainesville contacted local police on October 12 about what they described as a suspicious interaction involving an adult man and a child.
According to police accounts reported by PEOPLE, surveillance footage showed the pair leaving the business area.
Authorities were later contacted by a relative who knew the two had been seen there. Investigators reviewed the footage and searched the surrounding area.
On October 14, the father and son were found dead.
The medical examiner’s findings have since clarified the cause and manner of both deaths. The child’s death was ruled a homicide, while his father’s death was ruled a suicide. <Cite refs={[“turn820561news4″,”turn820561search1”]}/>
REMEMBERING A LITTLE BOY NAMED HARRY
While the investigation has focused on the circumstances surrounding the deaths, Andres’s family is left to remember a child whose life ended at just four years old.
The boy was also known by the name Harry.
A message shared on his obituary page described him as “sweet” and “loving,” adding that he was loved and would be deeply missed.
The words offered a glimpse of the grief surrounding the loss of a young child whose future had been cut short.
Andres was laid to rest in Texas following a funeral service, according to reports.
A fundraiser was also established to help support his mother as she grieves her son.
A FAMILY LEFT TO GRIEVE
The case began with a missed custody exchange and a missing-child alert. It ended with the discovery of two bodies and a medical examiner’s findings that confirmed the child had died as a result of a homicide.
For Andres’s loved ones, the official findings cannot undo the loss of a four-year-old boy whose family had been desperately seeking answers.
Authorities’ investigation and the medical examiner’s determinations have clarified key facts about the deaths, while the family now faces the painful task of mourning Andres and preserving the memories of his short life.
He was only four years old — a little boy remembered by those who loved him as sweet, peaceful and deeply cherished.
