ELDERLY MISSOURI COUPLE AND THEIR LITTLE DOG STILL MISSING MORE THAN SIX WEEKS LATER — INVESTIGATORS HAVE FEW ANSWERS
Leo and Katherine Lindeman vanished from their rural home near Anderson, Missouri, in September. Their vehicle was reportedly left behind, and despite searches, interviews and a review of their financial records, investigators have yet to establish what happened.
A DISAPPEARANCE THAT HAS LEFT A COMMUNITY SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS
An elderly Missouri couple and their small white dog remain missing more than six weeks after they were last heard from.
Leo Lindeman, 73, and his wife, Katherine Lindeman, 74, disappeared from their rural property near Anderson, in McDonald County, Missouri.
The couple were last known to have been in contact with others around September 15–16, 2026. Their disappearance was not reported to authorities until September 24.
The delay was partly attributed to the couple’s private lifestyle. They were not frequently seen by neighbours, so their absence did not immediately raise alarm.
But when people became concerned and checked on the property, the couple could not be located.
Their small white dog, Itty Bitty, was also missing.
THEIR VEHICLE WAS LEFT BEHIND
Investigators found the couple’s vehicle at their property, adding to the mystery surrounding their disappearance.
Authorities also examined the home, collected electronic devices and other potential evidence, and searched the surrounding land.
The sheriff’s office obtained a search warrant and conducted a detailed examination of the property, including searches for signs of a struggle or forced entry.
Search teams, including dog teams and drone operators, also helped examine the rural surroundings.
Approximately 15 acres around the property were extensively searched, but investigators did not uncover evidence that explained where the couple had gone.
INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
McDonald County Sheriff Robert Evenson has described the case as a mystery.
Investigators have examined the couple’s financial activity, but a review reported on October 24 had not produced significant information about their whereabouts.
Their laptop was also sent to a computer laboratory for further examination. Detectives were still awaiting information connected to search warrants and subpoenas.
Although the investigation has explored several possibilities, authorities have not publicly established whether the couple left voluntarily or whether something happened to them.
FAMILY MEMBERS ARE DESPERATE FOR INFORMATION
Leo’s sister, Leza Lindeman, previously made an emotional appeal for anyone with information to contact authorities.
She stressed that the family was worried about the couple and urged people not to dismiss even seemingly unimportant details.
Relatives have also expressed concern because both Leo and Katherine were reportedly in poor health.
The family is hoping that someone may have seen the couple, their vehicle or their little dog around the time they disappeared.
SIX WEEKS LATER, THE SEARCH CONTINUES
As of October 31, both Leo and Katherine remain listed as missing by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Their disappearance has left relatives facing an agonising wait, while investigators continue trying to piece together their final known movements.
For the family, there is still one simple hope: to find Leo, Katherine and their beloved dog — and finally learn what happened to them.
