A Checotah family is facing an uncertain road ahead after a 10-year-old boy was seriously injured in a traffic collision involving a semi truck. The incident occurred while the family’s vehicle was stopped at a red light, when it was struck from behind with significant force. In the moments that followed, emergency responders acted quickly, and the child was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Tulsa, where he remains under close care.

The boy, Bentley Green, sustained serious head injuries along with internal trauma. Medical staff have also noted limited movement on the left side of his body. Doctors have confirmed that the internal bleeding has been brought under control, but they have advised the family that recovery will require time, patience, and extensive care.

Bentley’s mother, Mykyla, described the emotional weight of the past days as overwhelming. “We went from an ordinary moment to a situation that changed our lives in seconds,” she said. “Seeing him respond, even in small ways, gives us strength we didn’t know we had.”

One of those moments came when Bentley squeezed his mother’s hand. Though subtle, the gesture carried deep meaning for his family. “When he squeezed my hand, it felt like he was telling us he’s still with us,” Mykyla shared. “Those small signs are everything right now.”

His father echoed that sentiment, saying the family is focusing on each positive development, no matter how minor it may seem. “We know this won’t be an easy path,” he said. “But Bentley is here, and as long as he’s fighting, we’re fighting with him.”

Doctors have emphasized that the coming weeks and months will be challenging. While there has been some stabilization, the extent of Bentley’s recovery cannot yet be determined. His parents say they are preparing themselves for a long process, guided by faith and the support of loved ones.
