A rare medical case has drawn public attention after a baby boy was born with six legs at Sukkur Hospital in Pakistan on April 13. The condition, caused by a congenital deformity, left the child’s family shocked and struggling to find a way forward.

The baby’s father, Imran Sheikh, said the moment was overwhelming. “When the doctors told me about my son’s condition, I did not know how to react,” he shared quietly. “We were happy he was alive, but at the same time, we were afraid of what this meant for his future.”

Doctors at Sukkur Hospital explained that despite the unusual condition, the newborn is otherwise healthy. Medical staff immediately took steps to ensure the baby’s safety and prevent any risk of infection. According to doctors, the additional legs can be removed through surgery, and the procedure itself is considered manageable by specialists.

Dr. Muhammad Qaisar from the Institute of Medical Technology in Islamabad confirmed that this is believed to be the first documented case of a six-legged baby in Pakistan. He stated that with proper medical care, the child has a strong chance of living a normal life after surgery.

However, the family now faces a serious challenge: the cost of treatment. Imran Sheikh, who works to support his family with limited income, said the surgery is far beyond their financial means. “We want to do everything possible for our child,” he said. “But we simply do not have the money. That is our biggest fear right now.”

The baby’s mother, still recovering from childbirth, expressed both hope and worry. “He is my child, no matter what,” she said softly. “I look at him and pray that someone will help us give him a better life.”

Due to financial difficulties, Imran has taken his newborn home while continuing to seek assistance. He is now reaching out to charitable individuals, humanitarian groups, and non-governmental organizations for support.

“This is not about us as parents,” Imran added. “It is about giving our son a chance to grow up like other children.”

Medical experts emphasize that early intervention is important and that timely support could change the course of the child’s life. As the story spreads, many hope it will encourage compassion and assistance for a family facing an extraordinary challenge.
