10-Year-Old Braxton Bragg Recovering After Severe Dog Attack in Texas

On August 13th, a quiet afternoon turned into a life-altering moment for 10-year-old Braxton Bragg. While playing in his own backyard, Braxton was unexpectedly attacked by three large dogs that entered his property from a nearby home. What began as a normal day quickly became a race to save his life.
Emergency services were called immediately. The neighbor managed to stop two of the dogs, while a responding deputy intervened to secure the third. Braxton was first taken by ambulance to Lufkin, Texas, but doctors soon realized that his condition required specialized treatment. He was airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where a surgical team performed emergency procedures to stabilize him.

Over the following days, Braxton endured five major surgeries and received more than 500 stitches. His recovery has been slow and painful, but doctors say he is showing remarkable strength. For his family, every small sign of progress is a reason to keep believing in his resilience.
Pennie and Thomas Maggard, identified as the owners of the three dogs, are now facing a lawsuit filed by Braxton’s parents. The law firm Hightower, Franklin, & James is seeking at least one million dollars in damages, citing the serious and lasting impact of the incident on Braxton’s life and well-being.

The Bragg family continues to focus on Braxton’s recovery, though the road ahead remains long. Between ongoing medical treatments, therapy sessions, and hospital visits, the financial strain has been significant. Friends, neighbors, and local supporters have rallied around the family, offering help and encouragement as they navigate this difficult journey.
Doctors expect Braxton will need continued care and rehabilitation in the months to come, but his determination has inspired everyone around him. His story has drawn attention across Texas, serving as a reminder of both the importance of community safety and the extraordinary courage of one young boy.
