Tiny Emory’s Brave Fight as Doctors and Family Rally Around Her in a Critical Moment

A family is asking for continued prayers and support after their young daughter, Emory, experienced a sudden and serious medical emergency that required an urgent transfer to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for specialized care.
According to her family, Emory had been battling persistent high fevers that would not subside. At the same time, her seizure activity increased significantly, raising immediate concern among doctors and loved ones. What initially appeared to be separate issues soon revealed a more complex and dangerous situation.

Medical teams at St. Rita’s Hospital discovered that Emory had contracted rhinovirus, a common viral infection that can become severe in medically fragile children. Further testing showed that she was also suffering from a urinary tract infection that had progressed into sepsis, a life-threatening systemic response to infection that requires rapid intervention.
“Everything happened so fast,” Emory’s mother shared quietly. “One moment we were hoping the fever would finally break, and the next we were being told she needed emergency transport. Your heart just drops.”
With Emory’s condition considered critical, doctors made the decision to call CareFlight. While awaiting the helicopter, hospital staff worked intensively to stabilize her. She was placed on continuous monitoring, given IV fluids, and carefully observed as teams prepared her for transport.

Her father described the waiting period as agonizing. “Every minute felt like an hour,” he said. “We were watching every breath, every movement, just praying she could hold on long enough to get the care she needed.”
During the flight to Cincinnati, medical personnel monitored Emory closely, adjusting medications and oxygen levels as necessary. The transfer itself carried risk, but it also represented hope — hope that advanced pediatric specialists could give her the best possible chance.
Once Emory arrived at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, a specialized pediatric team immediately assumed her care. Doctors initiated advanced monitoring and treatment protocols to address the infection, control the fevers, and manage her seizures. According to the family, her condition began to show signs of stabilization after treatment was started.
“She’s so small, but she’s incredibly strong,” her mother said. “Even when her body is under so much stress, she keeps fighting. That gives us strength.”

Throughout the ordeal, Emory’s parents have remained at her side, offering comfort through gentle words and touch. Extended family, friends, and supporters have rallied around them, sending messages of encouragement and holding Emory in their thoughts.
Medical staff continue to monitor Emory closely as treatment progresses. While challenges remain, each small improvement has brought renewed hope to her family.
“We’re taking it one moment at a time,” her father added. “We’re grateful for every doctor, every nurse, and everyone who’s keeping Emory in their thoughts. Right now, that support means everything.”
Hospital officials have not released further details, citing patient privacy, but confirmed that Emory remains under close observation. Her family remains hopeful as she continues to respond to care, holding onto faith and the belief that resilience, love, and expert medical support will carry her forward.
