A family is asking for continued prayers and support after their young daughter, Emory, experienced a sudden and serious medical emergency that required an urgent transfer to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for specialized care.

According to her family, Emory had been battling persistent high fevers that would not subside. At the same time, her seizure activity increased significantly, raising immediate concern among doctors and loved ones. What initially appeared to be separate issues soon revealed a more complex and dangerous situation.

Medical teams at St. Rita’s Hospital discovered that Emory had contracted rhinovirus, a common viral infection that can become severe in medically fragile children. Further testing showed that she was also suffering from a urinary tract infection that had progressed into sepsis, a life-threatening systemic response to infection that requires rapid intervention.

“Everything happened so fast,” Emory’s mother shared quietly. “One moment we were hoping the fever would finally break, and the next we were being told she needed emergency transport. Your heart just drops.”

With Emory’s condition considered critical, doctors made the decision to call CareFlight. While awaiting the helicopter, hospital staff worked intensively to stabilize her. She was placed on continuous monitoring, given IV fluids, and carefully observed as teams prepared her for transport.
