A community in Birmingham is in mourning after 12-year-old Leo Ross died following a sudden and unprovoked attack in a local park.

Leo, described by family and friends as gentle, curious and full of life, had simply been walking home when the incident occurred. Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, the young boy could not be saved.
Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant information, to come forward. No motive has yet been established.

In the hours since the tragedy, tributes have been laid at the park, with flowers, cards and messages left by residents, classmates and neighbours. Local schools and community groups are offering support to those affected, as a family and an entire city struggle to come to terms with a life lost far too soon.
