Thousands of Farmers Drive Tractors Into London in Major Protest Over Government Policy

London experienced widespread disruption today as a large convoy of farmers drove tractors into the capital to protest against government policies they say are putting the future of British agriculture at risk.
Organisers claimed that more than 1,800 tractors took part in coordinated demonstrations across key routes leading into central London. Several main roads were heavily congested, and traffic was brought to a near standstill in some areas as police worked to manage the movement of vehicles and keep emergency routes open.

Farmers say they are facing growing financial pressure from rising fuel, fertiliser and feed costs, combined with uncertainty over agricultural support schemes and future trade arrangements. Protest leaders argue that current policies fail to protect domestic producers and are undermining food security and long-term sustainability for rural communities.
Many participants travelled overnight from across England and Wales, displaying banners calling for clearer support, fairer prices and a long-term strategy for farming.

Government sources said ministers are aware of the concerns raised and have urged farming representatives to continue discussions through formal talks. Officials stressed that maintaining access to the capital and protecting public safety remain priorities during the demonstrations.
The protest reflects increasing tension between the farming sector and policymakers as pressure grows over the future of UK agriculture.
