Farage Attacks Labour Over Delayed Local Elections as Political Row Intensifies

Nigel Farage has launched a fierce public attack on Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour government over plans to postpone local elections in a number of council areas, accusing ministers of undermining democratic participation.

Speaking during a live television appearance, the Reform UK leader claimed the delays — linked to local government restructuring and reorganisation — would leave millions of voters without a chance to go to the polls as scheduled. Reform UK has said it is exploring legal options to challenge the decision, arguing that the changes set a dangerous precedent.
Labour, however, insists the postponements are administrative and necessary to allow new governance structures to be put in place, and denies any political motive behind the move.

The dispute has quickly escalated into a wider debate about electoral accountability, public trust and how far governments should go when reorganising local authorities.
