Carer Allegedly Wore Disguise in Sh𝚘𝚌𝚔ing Case Involving Prominent Millionaire Philanthropist

A 22-year-old care worker allegedly disguised himself with a mask and wig before fatally attacking a millionaire philanthropist.

Marquis Emilio James, of White Marsh, Maryland, has been charged in connection with the Valentine’s Day death of Robert G. Fuller Jr., 87, at the Cogir Potomac Senior Living Facility.

Surveillance footage appears to show James, wearing a long black wig, entering and exiting a gated courtyard through a door that had been tampered with.

The footage was taken around the time Fuller suffered a fatal head injury inside his apartment.

James had been employed as a medication technician at the care home since October and provided nightly care to Fuller.

An investigation was immediately launched into the incident.

Nothing appeared to have been taken from Fuller’s residence, according to authorities.

Investigators later discovered the door’s alarm sensor had been disabled.

Security footage from that day reportedly showed James as the only person using that entrance.

Days after Fuller’s passing, James was reportedly found inside the care home after his shift had ended.

When other staff members asked what he was doing, he allegedly gave an unclear explanation, officials said.

An exterior door alarm was then triggered and he left before a supervisor arrived.

James was later stopped during a traffic incident after an officer noticed his vehicle was missing license plates.

Authorities say that during the encounter, he discharged a weapon. The officer sustained minor injuries.

“Without a doubt, our state trooper avoided a far more serious outcome,” a law enforcement spokesperson said.

James left the scene, but investigators recovered a shell casing that became key evidence.

Officials said the casing matched ballistic evidence connected to Fuller’s case.

Local and federal authorities located James the following day and took him into custody in Rockville after a brief pursuit.

Search warrants later led officers to recover multiple wigs and a mask consistent with the disguise seen in surveillance footage.

James has been charged with first-degree homicide in Montgomery County.

If convicted, he could face a life sentence.

He is being held without bond pending a court hearing.

Authorities said they are still working to determine a motive.

“Upon speaking with him, he said their relationship was very good, and he would never have harmed Mr. Fuller,” an official stated. “We hope further investigation will clarify what happened.”

Retired millionaire Fuller and his late wife, Moira, donated millions of dollars to charitable causes in central Maine.

Fuller’s name is featured on the turf at Cony High School in Augusta in recognition of a $1.6 million contribution to its athletics facilities.
