UPDATE FROM DUBAI: Information circulating online indicates that unusual loud sounds were reported in several areas of Dubai, including locations near well-known hotels and landmarks.

Thick plumes of black smoke were seen across the skyline in Dubai after a popular hotel caught fire following reports of an aerial incident.
Photos circulating online appeared to show the Fairmont Hotel engulfed in flames, hours after U.S. officials confirmed overnight military activity involving Iran.

Iranian state media reported significant casualties across the country following the overnight operations, which came after months of heightened tensions in the region.
Israeli officials described their actions as a “preventative measure” aimed at reducing security risks, while witnesses in Tehran reported hearing loud explosions.

International media outlets reported that the U.S. was also involved in coordinated operations. Multiple sites across Iran were reportedly affected, with Iran responding by targeting locations associated with Israel and U.S. forces in the Middle East.
Reports indicate casualties at several sites, including a girls’ school and a sports facility in Fars province.

In Abu Dhabi, one person reportedly died due to falling debris linked to the unrest.
Cities said to have been affected include Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Kermanshah, and Qom, according to regional sources. Iran was also reported to have responded by targeting several foreign military installations in the region, including locations in Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Bahrain.

President Donald Trump described the developments as significant military actions and urged Iranian leadership to de-escalate the situation.
In a statement on social media, Trump said the objective was to protect American citizens and address what he described as security threats.
