Two Ancient Maya Tombs Discovered in Guatemala

Archaeologists have uncovered two ancient tombs belonging to the Maya civilization in northern Guatemala, offering new insight into royal life and burial traditions more than a thousand years ago.

The tombs were found within a ceremonial complex near the ancient city of Tikal, one of the most powerful urban centers of the Maya world. Inside, researchers discovered pottery, jade ornaments, and ritual artifacts believed to belong to elite individuals or royal family members.

Experts say the findings could help historians better understand political alliances, religious practices, and social hierarchy during the height of Maya civilization.

The discovery adds another important piece to the puzzle of the Maya’s rich and mysterious past.
