Explosions Light Up Tehran’s Night Sky as Airstrikes Continue

Bright flashes of yellow illuminated the skies over Tehran in the early hours of Friday as a new wave of airstrikes struck the Iranian capital, continuing several days of intense military escalation in the region.

Residents across the city reported seeing repeated bursts of light followed by loud explosions that echoed through the night. The flashes, visible from several districts, were caused by aerial bombardments targeting sites inside and around Tehran as the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States continues to intensify.

Witnesses said the explosions briefly lit up the dark skyline, creating glowing streaks and flashes across the clouds before thick plumes of smoke rose from different parts of the city. Some residents described the sound of fighter jets overhead moments before the blasts, while others said the explosions shook windows and buildings.

The attacks are part of a broader military campaign launched by Israel and supported by the United States against Iranian military and security infrastructure. The offensive began in late February with coordinated strikes on key facilities in Tehran and other cities, marking one of the most significant direct confrontations between the sides in recent history.

Since the start of the campaign, hundreds of targets across Iran have reportedly been hit, including air defense systems, missile sites, and government-linked infrastructure. Several explosions have been reported repeatedly in the capital as aircraft strike different locations during overnight operations.

The ongoing bombardment has transformed the nightly atmosphere in Tehran. Sirens, flashes of explosions, and columns of smoke have become increasingly common as residents brace for further strikes. Some people have sought shelter in underground areas or subway stations, while others remain in their homes despite the continuing attacks.

Meanwhile, Iran has launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks against Israel and U.S. positions in the region, raising fears that the confrontation could widen into a broader Middle East war.

Analysts say the persistent airstrikes over Tehran demonstrate the intensity of the current conflict and the growing scale of military operations on both sides. With diplomatic efforts struggling to gain momentum and attacks continuing overnight, the situation in the Iranian capital remains highly volatile.

For many residents of Tehran, the flashes lighting the night sky have become a stark reminder that the war is now unfolding directly above their city.
