Jérôme Hamon lived a life that sounded almost impossible — a man who, over time, had three different faces.
In 2010, a rare genetic condition forced doctors to remove his original face.
Years later, in 2015, he underwent one of the most complex procedures in modern medicine — a full face transplant.
A new face.

A new life.
But his body rejected it.
Slowly, the transplant failed… and Jérôme was left in a condition few could even imagine — alive, but without a face, kept in isolation while doctors searched for another donor.
Then, in 2018, came something never done before.
A second face transplant.
A second chance.
The risks were enormous. The odds uncertain.
But this time… his body accepted it.
He relearned how to eat.

How to speak.
How to live again.
His journey became known worldwide — not just as a medical breakthrough, but as a symbol of resilience and the limits of human possibility.
In 2024, Jérôme Hamon passed away at the age of 49.
His life was not easy. It was filled with pain, uncertainty, and battles most people will never face.
But it was also extraordinary.
Because he didn’t just survive the impossible once…
He did it twice.
And in doing so, he showed the world what medicine can achieve — and how strong a human being can truly be.
