SIX SURGERIES, HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE, AND A LIFE-THREATENING INTESTINAL RUPTURE — LITTLE HENRY NEVER STOPPED FIGHTING

Born on October 29, little Henry entered the world already facing challenges that most children will never experience in a lifetime.

Shortly after birth, doctors diagnosed Henry with Hirschsprung’s disease, a serious condition where missing nerve cells in the large intestine prevent normal bowel movements and can cause dangerous blockages. As if that battle wasn’t enough, Henry was also diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), making his fragile condition even more complex.

At only three days old, Henry suffered a life-threatening intestinal rupture and had to undergo emergency surgery.

For his family, it was the beginning of a heartbreaking journey filled with fear, sleepless nights, and endless hospital visits. Instead of spending his first year learning to crawl and play at home, Henry spent nearly every day inside the Children’s Hospital surrounded by doctors, machines, and medical equipment.

Over the course of his first year, the brave little boy underwent six major intestinal surgeries.

“There were moments we didn’t know what the future would look like,” a family member shared. “But Henry kept fighting through everything with a strength that amazed us every single day.”

Because of his condition, Henry was unable to eat normally for much of his first year and had to receive nutrition intravenously. Watching their baby connected to tubes and monitors became part of daily life for his parents.

Still, Henry never stopped showing his resilience.

Slowly, small victories began to appear. After months of treatment and recovery, Henry was finally able to begin eating solid foods — a milestone his family once feared might never come.

“Seeing him enjoy food for the first time felt like a miracle,” his family said. “After everything he’s been through, those little moments mean the world to us.”

Now, after a year filled with surgeries, recovery, and unimaginable emotional strength, Henry has finally been able to return home — just in time for Christmas.

For his loved ones, having him home again is the greatest gift they could have received.

“This Christmas feels different,” the family shared emotionally. “Having Henry home with us is all we ever wanted.”

Though his medical journey is not completely over, Henry continues to inspire everyone around him with his courage, determination, and bright spirit.
