When Mom of 2 Was Arrested on Accusations She Killed Her 2 Kids, She Handed This Heart-Wrenching Item to Cops
Janette MacAusland is charged with the murder of her children, Ella and Kai
A Massachusetts mother now charged with killing her children reportedly handed officers a photo of the two kids when first confronted by the police.
Janette MacAusland, 49, was arrested in Vermont in April, with authorities alleging she killed her kids, Ella, 6, and Kai, 7, in their home in Wellesley, Mass.
The Boston Globe, WFSB and WCVB reported that MacAusland allegedly showed up to her aunt’s house in Vermont with a neck wound and was acting erratically.
Citing police, the outlets reported that MacAusland allegedly said she killed her children, before apparently attempting suicide by stabbing herself in the neck and intending to jump off a bridge.

“I wanted the three of us to go to God together, but it didn’t work,” she allegedly told her aunt, per WFSB, which cited police.
When police arrived, they alleged that MacAusland hand them a photo of her with the kids on vacation while confessing to strangling them, according to WCVB.
Authorities later searched MacAusland’s home and found the children “deceased in a bed, corroborating MacAusland’s earlier statements,” authorities said, according to the Globe.
MacAusland was engaged in a custody dispute with her estranged husband, Samuel, at the time of the alleged killings, PEOPLE previously reported.
The Globe reported that MacAusland appeared in court on Wednesday, May 6 and pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.
