A Colorado man got the surprise of a lifetime when he returned to his parked truck in Steamboat Springs and opened the driver’s side door — only to come face-to-face with a bear calmly sitting in the driver’s seat!

According to surveillance footage captured by Justin E. Pickar, Andy Kerrigan flinched in shock the moment he saw the unexpected visitor. The bear, which appeared to be a young cub, looked completely unfazed and right at home behind the wheel.

After quickly stepping back, Kerrigan used a wooden plank to gently encourage the cub to exit the vehicle. The bear eventually hopped out and ran off without any harm done to either party.

“I was scared at first,” Pickar admitted, before laughing once he realized Kerrigan was safe.

Wildlife experts remind everyone to lock their vehicles and never leave food or scented items inside, as bears are naturally drawn to anything that smells like a potential snack.
