EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — What began as a concerning report quickly turned into a successful rescue mission after a dog was found stranded high in the rugged terrain of the Franklin Mountains.

Officers with El Paso Animal Services responded last week after receiving calls about a dog stuck on a steep mountainside near the El Paso Police Department Training Academy. The area, known for its rocky slopes and challenging elevation, posed serious risks not only to the stranded animal but also to rescuers attempting to reach it.

When officers arrived, they located the dog perched in a precarious spot, unable to safely climb down on its own. The harsh desert environment — with its heat, uneven terrain, and lack of accessible footing — made the situation increasingly urgent.

Despite the difficulty, the team carefully planned their approach.
