Man Calls For Help When He Discovers Someone Tiny Tangled Up In Volleyball Net
It was a sweltering day in Washington Boro, Pennsylvania, when the team at the Raven Ridge Wildlife Center (RRWC) received a call from a concerned resident named Mark. What he had found in his garage was something he never expected — a small black-and-white animal hopelessly tangled in an old volleyball net.
Mark had been searching for some equipment when he noticed movement in the corner. As he got closer, he realized the situation was far more serious. The tiny creature had become tightly wrapped in the netting, unable to free itself. Every attempt to move only made the situation worse.
Unsure of what to do but determined to help, Mark immediately contacted RRWC.
Rescue staff arrived quickly and assessed the situation with care. The animal — a young skunk — was frightened and exhausted, its body constrained by the tangled cords. Situations like this can be dangerous, not only because of the physical restraint but also due to stress and dehydration.

At the center, the skunk was given time to rest, rehydrate, and recover in a quiet, safe environment. With proper care and monitoring, it didn’t take long for the animal to regain its strength.
Not long after, the young skunk was deemed healthy enough to return to the wild — back where it belonged.
This rescue serves as an important reminder of how everyday household items can become dangerous hazards for wildlife. Nets, wires, and debris left in garages or yards can unintentionally trap curious animals, putting their lives at risk.
