Nick Reiner Charged in the 2025 Deaths of Parents Rob and Michele Reiner

**LOS ANGELES —** Nick Reiner has been formally charged in connection with the **December 2025 deaths of his parents, actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michele Singer Reiner**, marking a major development in the case.

Reiner, 32, was initially charged with **two counts of first-degree murder**, with a special circumstance allegation involving multiple murders. Prosecutors also alleged that he personally used a **knife**, described as a dangerous and deadly weapon.
Rob and Michele Reiner were found fatally stabbed at their Brentwood home on **December 14, 2025**. Nick Reiner was arrested several hours later and has remained in custody without bail.

The case has since advanced significantly. A Los Angeles County grand jury returned an indictment on **July 20, 2026**, which was unsealed August 12. The new indictment adds a special-circumstance allegation that Reiner **“lay in wait”** before the killings, an allegation that can carry severe additional sentencing consequences if proven.

Reiner has **pleaded not guilty**. Prosecutors have not publicly disclosed a motive, and much of the evidence remains outside the public record because grand jury proceedings are conducted in secret.
