“PLEASE BRING HER HOME” — MISSING TEEN’S FAMILY FACES AN AGONIZING WAIT

NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA — The search for 18-year-old bushwalker Lily Hooper has entered another critical stage, with emergency crews continuing to scour the rugged Southern Highlands after she disappeared during a solo hike.

Lily left her home in Oakdale on August 12, telling her family she planned to go walking in the Nattai National Park area.

She never returned.

Lily’s vehicle was discovered late that night on Wanganderry Road, close to the Bonnum Pic Walking Trail.

Investigators believe she reached the Bonnum Pic summit earlier that day, but there has been no confirmed sighting of her since.

Her family reported her missing when she failed to come home, triggering a large-scale search operation.

SEARCHERS FACE TOUGH TERRAIN

The operation has involved approximately 200 personnel, including police, SES volunteers, firefighters, defence personnel, paramedics and specialist search teams.

Helicopters, drones, search dogs, mounted teams and trail bikes have been used to examine the area.

But the landscape presents major challenges.

Dense bushland, steep terrain, ravines and creek lines have made it difficult for crews to cover the area quickly.

Lily’s family has thanked everyone involved in the search while making an emotional appeal for information.

They are asking anyone who may have been in the area around High Range, Wanganderry Road or nearby roads to check dashcam footage and CCTV that could potentially show Lily or her vehicle.

Authorities have also asked residents to check sheds, outbuildings and other locations where someone could potentially seek shelter.

POLICE CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR ANSWERS

Investigators have not publicly established what happened after Lily reached the trail.

There has been no confirmed indication that she was abducted, and authorities continue to treat the operation as a search-and-rescue mission.

Police are also warning members of the public not to enter dangerous sections of the search area themselves.

For Lily’s loved ones, the uncertainty is becoming unbearable.

Seven days have passed, but the search has not stopped. Hundreds of people are still looking through the wilderness for one missing teenager — while her family waits for the call that could finally bring her home.
