Prosecutors allege that Nick fatally stabbed his parents inside their Brentwood home in the early morning hours of Dec. 14. He was arrested hours later near the University of Southern California and has remained in custody without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
Nick is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 15. If convicted as charged, he faces the possibility of death or life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the district attorney’s office. Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty.
The grand jury testimony by Jake and Romy comes weeks after Nick previously accused his siblings of backing out of an alleged agreement to help fund his legal defense.
In a probate petition filed in June, Nick sought access to a $1.5 million trust established by his parents, saying he wanted to use the funds to re-engage defense attorney Alan Jackson, who initially represented him following his arrest.
