Two Mexican Fishermen Survive Five Days Adrift in Pacific After Boat Sinks

Two Mexican fishermen survived approximately five days adrift in the Pacific Ocean after their boat malfunctioned and sank more than 240 kilometers off the coast of Chiapas state.

The fishermen, aged 53 and 32, lost contact after their vessel suffered a mechanical failure and went down.

With no boat to keep them afloat, the pair managed to survive by clinging to a floating cooler as they drifted through the open ocean.

They were eventually located by the Mexican Navy on August 19, 2026. Both men were still alive but were reportedly suffering from severe dehydration after spending days exposed to the harsh conditions at sea.

Following their rescue, the fishermen were taken for emergency medical treatment.

Their survival after spending nearly a week adrift highlights the extraordinary circumstances they endured and the crucial role played by the rescue operation.
