Quinton Aaron was already fighting through one of the most frightening health crises of his life when another shock arrived.

The actor, best known for playing Michael Oher in the 2009 film The Blind Side, suffered a serious medical emergency in January 2026 and fell into a coma.

When he eventually woke up, he began the difficult process of recovery.

Then, according to Aaron, someone showed him legal documents involving the woman he had married just over a year earlier.

What he says he learned changed everything.

Aaron claims that Margarita DeLeon, whom he married in December 2024, was still legally married to another man from a marriage dating back to 1992. He says he had no idea about the earlier marriage when they exchanged vows.

Now, as he works to regain his strength physically, Aaron says that relationship is over.

He has not spoken to DeLeon, he says, and he does not plan to reconcile.

A Medical Crisis Came First

Aaron’s ordeal began with a major health scare early this year.

The 42-year-old actor was hospitalized after suffering what he has described as a stroke-related medical emergency.

His condition became severe enough that he fell into a coma.

For an actor whose public life had largely centered on film roles and appearances, the experience suddenly narrowed everything down to survival.

Aaron later spoke about just how serious the situation was, saying he came close to dying.

When he woke up, the immediate challenge was physical recovery.

He had to confront weakness, limited mobility and the uncertainty of how much function he might regain.

But while he was still trying to understand what had happened to his body, his personal life was about to become just as complicated.

Then Came the Documents

Aaron said that while he was hospitalized, he was shown documents indicating that DeLeon had never legally ended a previous marriage.

According to his account, she had been married to another man since 1992.

That meant Aaron’s December 2024 wedding may not have created the legal marriage he believed it did.

Aaron insists he did not know.

He says he entered the relationship and wedding believing DeLeon was free to marry him.

The revelation left him stunned.

“I was under the impression that she was divorced,” he told Us Weekly.

From his perspective, the issue was not simply legal.

It was about trust.

He believed he knew the person he had married.

Then, during one of the most vulnerable periods of his life, he was confronted with paperwork suggesting there was a major part of her marital history he had never been told about.

Aaron Says They No Longer Speak

After learning about the alleged existing marriage, Aaron says contact between him and DeLeon ended.

He has said they have not spoken since.

When asked whether there was any chance of rebuilding the relationship, Aaron was clear that he is not interested in doing so.

The actor told PEOPLE that he has no plans to reconnect romantically.

That makes the split sound less like a temporary separation and more like a final decision.

For Aaron, the discovery appears to have created a line he does not want to cross again.

Whatever emotional bond existed before the hospitalization, he now says the relationship is finished.
