A Long Island family gathered Sunday to say goodbye to Allison Rahmani, a beloved teacher and mother of four whose sudden passing has left her family, students and community devastated.

Rahmani, 40, died Friday after her SUV crashed into the swimming pool at her family’s home in Hewlett, Nassau County.

But investigators now believe Allison may have experienced a medical emergency before losing control of the vehicle, and authorities have said they do not currently suspect foul play.

THE TRAGIC CRASH

According to reports, Allison was driving near her family’s home when her SUV suddenly left the roadway and plunged into the backyard swimming pool.

Despite the terrifying circumstances, Allison was able to call 911 from the vehicle.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and attempted to save her.

She was taken toward the hospital but died in the ambulance.

Her sudden passing came only days after her 40th birthday.

Even more painfully, Friday had been the day Allison and her husband, Matthew Rahmani, were scheduled to leave for a romantic trip to Paris.

On Sunday, Matthew stood before mourners at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett and delivered an emotional tribute to the woman he had built his life with.

Rather than offering only a conventional eulogy, he recited “Eshet Chayil,” the traditional Jewish “Woman of Valor” prayer often sung by a groom to his bride.

The choice was deeply personal.

Matthew remembered Allison as the person who stood beside him through every major turning point in their lives.

He spoke about their early years together, including the difficult period when they were living paycheck to paycheck, and about how Allison repeatedly encouraged him and believed in their family.

Now, he said, he would have to continue raising their four children without her.

A MOTHER WHO PUT HER CHILDREN FIRST

Allison was remembered above all as a devoted mother.

Her husband described the way she cared for their children with extraordinary attention, comparing her nurturing to tending delicate plants.

During the funeral, she told mourners:

Her sister, Dana Hess, also delivered an emotional tribute, describing Allison as the life of the party and someone who loved being an educator.

She spoke about the future moments the sisters had expected to share — sitting on the floor with their children, playing games and laughing together.

Those ordinary moments are now memories.

 WHAT CAUSED THE CRASH?

Authorities are still examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

However, sources close to the investigation told the New York Post that police believe Allison may have suffered some type of medical episode, causing her to lose control of the SUV.

Police have reportedly ruled out foul play, although the investigation remains ongoing.

That distinction is important.
