12-Year-Old Sydney Girl Suffers Severe Brain Hemorrhage After Suddenly Falling Ill

A 12-year-old girl named Maddie is fighting for her life in an intensive care unit after suffering a sudden and severe brain hemorrhage at her family’s home in Sydney, Australia.

Maddie had reportedly been completely well the previous evening before going to bed. Around 5 a.m. on August 1, her mother, Leah, heard her say that she felt unwell and might vomit.

Maddie then complained of a headache before appearing to lose consciousness and becoming unresponsive.

Her mother immediately called 000, Australia’s emergency number. Emergency dispatchers guided Leah through CPR until help arrived.

At the hospital, doctors discovered that Maddie had suffered a severe brain hemorrhage accompanied by significant brain swelling. She required emergency surgery to address the life-threatening condition.

Maddie remains in the ICU at Sydney Children’s Hospital, where she is continuing to receive treatment.

Her family says her recovery could be a long and difficult journey, potentially lasting months or even years. They are now focused on supporting Maddie through her rehabilitation and hoping for signs of progress as she continues her fight to recover.
