NEW FAMILY TWIST EMERGES IN OHIO “HOUSE OF HORRORS” CASE AS SECOND UNDERAGE MARRIAGE IS REVEALED

A disturbing new connection has emerged in the Ohio case involving 16 children who were rescued from a home described by authorities as having severely deplorable living conditions.

Newly uncovered marriage records have revealed that another member of the Siders family was married as a teenager — adding another layer to an already complicated family history now under investigation.

The latest development centers on Virginia Siders, a daughter of Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders and the sister of Gary Siders Jr., whose family home in Hamden became the focus of a major investigation earlier this summer.

According to records cited by multiple outlets, Virginia was 15 when she married Joshua D. Saunders, who was 19, in 2003. The marriage application indicates that Virginia’s parents gave their consent.

The couple later had a son, Joshua “Josh” Saunders III, who is now 23 and facing criminal charges in an unrelated child-abuse investigation that ultimately helped investigators uncover the conditions inside the Siders family home.

A FAMILY CONNECTION AT THE CENTER OF THE INVESTIGATION

Josh Saunders was recently indicted on three counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition, according to authorities and local reports.

Prosecutors have said the allegations involve minors, although authorities have not publicly identified the alleged victims.

Saunders has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His case is separate from the charges initially brought against Gary and Elizabeth Siders following the June discovery of the 16 children.

Investigators began looking into allegations involving Saunders and another man, Brandon Henderson Sr., in December 2025.

That investigation eventually expanded, leading authorities to investigate members of the Siders family and ultimately discover the children at the Hamden property.

Henderson, 40, has also been indicted on numerous charges connected to allegations involving minors.

Records reportedly show that Henderson has a relationship with Virginia Siders, adding another connection between the newly charged men and the Siders family.

THE DISCOVERY OF 16 CHILDREN

The broader case began on June 30, when authorities went to the Siders family property in Hamden, Ohio.

Inside the home, investigators discovered 16 children ranging in age from approximately 18 months to 18 years old.

Authorities described the living conditions as extremely poor and said the children had been confined to a room measuring roughly 12 feet by 12 feet.

Officials said some of the children had significant developmental and communication difficulties, while several required medical treatment after being removed from the property.

The discovery shocked the local community, particularly because investigators said the children had largely remained outside normal systems of education and social services.

Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders were subsequently charged with multiple counts of child endangerment. All have pleaded not guilty.

ANOTHER UNDERAGE MARRIAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN REVEALED

Virginia’s marriage to Saunders is not the only teenage marriage connected to the family.

Records previously showed that Gary Siders Jr. married Elizabeth Siders when Elizabeth was 15 and Gary was 18.

The couple went on to have numerous children, including the 16 children discovered at the Hamden property.

Legal records also reportedly show another marriage involving a member of the extended Siders family and a teenage girl.

The revelations have prompted renewed questions about the family’s history, relationships and the circumstances surrounding the children’s upbringing.

However, attorneys representing members of the Siders family have urged the public not to rush to conclusions.

Elizabeth Siders’ attorney, Thomas Stolly, has argued that some descriptions of the children’s circumstances have been exaggerated and emphasized that his client and the other defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

NEW SEXUAL-ABUSE CHARGES ADD TO THE CASE

The investigation has continued to expand.

Gary Siders Jr. and Elizabeth Siders were recently indicted on additional charges involving alleged sexual conduct with a minor who prosecutors said was not one of their 16 children.

According to prosecutors, the alleged conduct occurred between January and September 2022.

Gary Jr. faces two counts of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in that case. Elizabeth faces similar charges.

Gary Jr. has pleaded not guilty, while Elizabeth had not yet been arraigned at the time of the latest reports.

A CASE THAT CONTINUES TO UNRAVEL

What began with the discovery of 16 children inside a rural Ohio home has now developed into a much broader investigation involving multiple generations of the same extended family.

The newly revealed 2003 marriage between Virginia Siders and Joshua Saunders has drawn additional attention because of the later criminal case involving their son.

Authorities have not suggested that the marriage itself constitutes evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

For now, prosecutors continue to investigate the various allegations, while the defendants face the legal process and maintain their constitutional presumption of innocence.

The case remains active, and investigators have yet to answer many of the questions surrounding how the children came to live under the conditions authorities discovered — and how those circumstances remained largely hidden for so long.
