Woman Diagnosed With Stage 3 Bowel Cancer After Two Weeks of Severe Constipation

Vicky Mcloughlin, 66, was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer after her daughter became concerned that she was not acting like herself and learned that she had been struggling to use the toilet for two weeks.

Vicky was diagnosed with bowel cancer in November 2024. Her daughter, Chloe, 33, initially noticed that something seemed wrong with her mother. She later discovered that Vicky had been experiencing significant difficulty going to the toilet for around two weeks.

When Vicky subsequently developed bleeding, she underwent an endoscopy, but the initial examination reportedly failed to identify the cancer.

Concerned about her mother’s worsening condition, Chloe took Vicky to A&E, where doctors carried out further scans. Medical staff reportedly detected a mass in the cervical area.

A subsequent biopsy confirmed that the mass was cancerous. The family was then told that the tumor had originated in Vicky’s bowel and had progressed to the cervical area.

Vicky’s condition has since become increasingly difficult, with her family saying she has been involved in an ongoing battle with sepsis and has been unable to undergo the surgery they hoped would treat the cancer.

Her story highlights the importance of seeking medical attention when persistent changes in bowel habits or unexplained bleeding occur, particularly when symptoms continue or worsen.
