73-YEAR-OLD CAMPER VANISHES IN THE ADIRONDACKS — HIS RV WAS FOUND, BUT HE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND
INLET, N.Y. — A multi-agency search is continuing for 73-year-old Craig K. Streeter, a New York man who has been missing for more than three weeks after his recreational vehicle was discovered unattended at a remote campsite in the Adirondacks.
Streeter, of Mahopac, was last seen on August 2, 2026, at a Stewart’s Shop in Indian Lake. He was wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and jeans and was traveling in his RV.
HIS RV WAS STILL AT THE CAMPSITE
Concern grew after New York State Forest Rangers located Streeter’s RV at campsite 36 on Moose River Road in the town of Inlet.
The vehicle was there, but investigators could not locate Streeter and found no known recent activity around the campsite.
Additional law enforcement agencies were subsequently brought into the search.
The location sits within the vast Moose River Plains wilderness, an area known for remote camping and backcountry trails.
HE WAS KNOWN TO GO OFF THE GRID
Authorities say Streeter regularly traveled and camped in remote areas, meaning periods without contact were not necessarily unusual for him.
But this disappearance has lasted far longer.
Police say he was last heard from on August 2, and investigators are now asking anyone who may have been camping or traveling around Moose River Road and nearby remote areas between August 2 and August 7 to come forward.
NO SIGN OF FOUL PLAY
Despite the mystery surrounding his disappearance, authorities have said there are currently no indications of foul play.
Investigators have not publicly established why Streeter left his RV or where he may have gone afterward.
That leaves several possibilities open, including an accident, medical emergency or another unexplained change in circumstances.
For now, however, none has been confirmed.
THE SEARCH CONTINUES
The Adirondacks can be extremely challenging for search teams, with vast wooded areas, remote roads and backcountry trails making the search difficult.
Multiple agencies remain involved as authorities work to determine Streeter’s movements after his last known sighting.
Anyone who may have seen him, his RV or anything unusual in the Moose River Road area is being urged to contact New York State Police at 518-897-2000.
More than three weeks have now passed since Streeter was last seen.
His RV has been found.
His last known location is known.
But the biggest question remains unanswered:
