19-YEAR-OLD TAEKWONDO WORLD MEDALIST DIES UNEXPECTEDLY IN HER SLEEP — “HER STORY SHOULD HAVE HAD SO MANY MORE CHAPTERS”

A 19-year-old aspiring lawyer and accomplished taekwondo athlete has died unexpectedly after suffering a cardiac arrest in her sleep.

Isabelle Sava died on August 17 despite desperate efforts by ambulance and air ambulance crews to resuscitate her, according to a verified fundraiser established for her parents by a family friend.

Her sudden passing has left her family, friends and the taekwondo community devastated.

A FUTURE CUT SHORT

Isabelle had been preparing to begin her second year studying law at Queen Mary University of London.

She dreamed of becoming a lawyer and was already actively building toward that future.

She was involved with her university’s Law Society, Commercial Awareness Society and Student Advancement Society and also worked as a student blog writer for the Queen Mary Legal Advice Center.

Family friend Adriana Agache described Isabelle as intelligent, ambitious and determined, saying she knew where she wanted to go in life and was willing to work hard to achieve it.

But Isabelle’s achievements extended far beyond the classroom.

A CHAMPION ON THE MAT

Isabelle had dedicated more than a decade to taekwondo.

She eventually earned a second-degree black belt and began competing internationally.

In 2022, she represented herself at the World Taekwondo Championships in the Netherlands, where she won a silver medal in sparring.

She also served as a Police Cadet and completed the Bronze and Silver levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Those who knew her say her accomplishments were only part of who she was.

“SHE WAS THEIR WHOLE WORLD”

Isabelle was the only child of Laura and Ovi Sava.

According to the family friend who organized the fundraiser, the three shared an exceptionally close relationship.

She described Isabelle as kind, thoughtful, compassionate and hardworking — someone who remained humble despite everything she had achieved.

The fundraiser was created to help her parents with funeral and unexpected expenses while they grieve the loss of their daughter.

NO WARNING

The sudden nature of Isabelle’s passing has made the loss even more difficult for those closest to her.

The fundraiser describes her death as “completely unexpected.”

Emergency crews fought to save her, but she could not be revived.

No further details about what caused the cardiac arrest have been publicly provided.

A COMMUNITY MOURNS

Tributes have also poured in from the taekwondo community.

Trenic TKD, a U.K.-based network of Taekwon-Do academies, described Isabelle as someone who was a pleasure to teach, train alongside and know.

For those who watched her develop from a young athlete into an international medalist, her loss is particularly difficult to comprehend.

At just 19, Isabelle had already achieved so much — while appearing to have an entire future ahead of her.

She had dreams of becoming a lawyer.

She had plans for university.

She had spent years developing her skills on the taekwondo mat.

And she had so much more she wanted to accomplish.

“Her story should have had so many more chapters.”

For her parents, friends and everyone who knew her, Isabelle’s legacy will now live through the memories of the young woman, athlete and aspiring lawyer she was.
