TWO “INSEPARABLE” TEEN BEST FRIENDS, 16 AND 17, LOST IN CALIFORNIA CRASH — 5 PEOPLE ARRESTED

A heartbreaking California crash has led to five arrests after two teenage best friends, described by their families as “inseparable,” lost their lives while traveling through Victorville.

Maddalyn Dailey, 17, and Isabell DeLang, 16, were involved in the multi-vehicle crash on Aug. 14.

According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles were allegedly traveling at extremely high speeds through a residential neighborhood when they collided with the car carrying the teenagers.

THEY HAD BEEN FRIENDS SINCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Maddalyn’s father, Dustin Dailey, previously told KTLA that his daughter and Isabell had been close friends since elementary school.

The teenagers attended Sultana High School and were described as inseparable.

Maddalyn was reportedly giving Isabell a ride home when the crash occurred.

Her father said he immediately knew something was wrong when he heard the impact.

The families later remembered both girls as young women with “so much life ahead” of them.

THE INVESTIGATION LED TO A MULTI-DAY SEARCH

Authorities allege that George Gary Sanchez, 49, was driving a Dodge Charger while Terry Lamar Easter, 50, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro.

Sanchez was taken into custody shortly after the crash.

Easter allegedly fled the scene, prompting investigators to launch a multi-day search before he surrendered to authorities on Aug. 26.

Both men were booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter with negligence.

Authorities have not said whether either man has entered a plea or retained an attorney.

THREE MORE PEOPLE WERE ALSO ARRESTED

The investigation did not end with the two alleged drivers.

CHP also arrested Ryan James Lewis, 45, Lukevy Shawntell Yates, 49, and Madge Wells, 74, on suspicion of being accessories.

According to authorities, all three cooperated with investigators and were later released.

The arrests came as investigators continued piecing together what happened before and after the collision.

A COMMUNITY LEFT GRIEVING

For the families, however, the criminal investigation cannot undo the loss of two teenagers who had grown up together.

Their loved ones have continued to remember Maddalyn and Isabell for their friendship, their personalities and the future they were supposed to have.

The CHP said the arrests reflected its commitment to pursuing justice and expressed hope that the developments would provide some comfort to the families.

Two best friends who had shared years of memories were on what should have been an ordinary drive home. Instead, that journey ended in tragedy — leaving their families searching for answers while investigators continue to reconstruct the events surrounding the crash.
