Virginia Man Accused of Killing Former Romantic Partner and Dumping Her Body in Great Falls Park

A 19-year-old man from El Salvador is facing a second-degree murder charge after authorities accused him of killing a former romantic partner and leaving her body in a Virginia park.

The suspect, Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos, was arrested August 19 in Prince George’s County in connection with the death of Carmen Lizet Puch, 42, a mother of a 3-year-old daughter who had previously worked alongside him at a restaurant in Herndon.

Prosecutors said Cedillos-Campos and Puch had been romantically involved in the past. According to a coworker interviewed by police, Puch had allegedly sent screenshots documenting the relationship to Cedillos-Campos’s girlfriend.

Authorities allege that the situation escalated after Cedillos-Campos expressed an intention to kill Puch. Workplace surveillance footage reportedly showed him obtaining a knife, latex gloves and a bottle of water before leaving.

Puch was later discovered in the Difficult Run Park area of Great Falls, Virginia, where investigators said she had suffered multiple stab wounds. Police also reported that her body had been doused with gasoline and believe the suspect may have attempted to set it on fire, although the apparent attempt was unsuccessful.

Following his arrest, Fairfax County Police Chief said Cedillos-Campos confessed to the killing. Investigators have described the circumstances as appearing to indicate that the crime was premeditated.

Cedillos-Campos has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for November 30.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations against Cedillos-Campos have not been proven in court.
